History

The Turkish natural gas market began the privatization process with Natural Gas Market Law 4646, which took effect on February 5, 2001, for the purpose of "providing high-quality, affordable, uninterrupted natural gas for consumers based on a competitive market without harming the environment. The Aygaz Doğal Gaz companies were established to conduct private company operations within the scope of this law and to take advantage of opportunities that will emerge in the natural gas field both here in Turkey and abroad.

In keeping with the common objective of active and substantial involvement in the natural gas sector, a cooperative agreement was signed on November 17, 2000 between the Koç Group and the Norwegian company Statoil, which is one of the largest companies in the international petroleum and natural gas sector. It was within this framework that Aygaz Doğal Gaz Wholesales, Inc. was established on April 1, 2004 to engage in wholesale operations and Aygaz Doğal Gaz Transmission, Inc. on April 2, 2004 to engage in the transmission of liquefied natural gas (LNG). On June 29, 2004, an LNG supply agreement was signed with BOTAŞ and our first gas delivery to a customer took place on July 1, 2004, which was the beginning of operations in the natural gas sector by our group and companies.

Aygaz Doğal Gaz operates in the natural gas market conducting the wholesale and transmission of liquefied natural gas (LNG). It also began supplying natural gas to users classified as eligible consumers via pipelines starting January 1, 2010.

Aygaz Doğal Gaz aims to develop domestic wholesale activity through imports and obtained a 10-year import license (spot LNG) from the Energy Market Regulatory Agency valid beginning on May 20, 2010.
