Supply and Trade

Natural gas began to be used in the 1970s, and use has risen in parallel with the increased energy demand and growing number of uses. Turkey imports natural gas via pipelines from Russia, Iran and Azerbaijan and liquefied natural gas (LNG) from Algeria and Nigeria via ship tankers.

With the transfer of a portion of BOTAŞ’s current natural gas import contract to the private sector in 2007, and the liberalization of spot LNG imports in 2008 within the scope of the Natural Gas Market Law, private sector actors began operations in the Turkish natural gas market in addition to the public sector.

As a result, Aygaz Doğal Gaz now provides eligible consumers with uninterrupted, high-quality service that does not harm the environment with the required natural gas transmission and distribution lines.
